Could The Art of the Deal Guide Trump in Negotiating Peace with Putin Over the Ukraine War?

A question was raised about whether Donald Trump’s book The Art of the Deal could offer insights into how to deal with Putin and find a solution to the war in Ukraine. The book was published in 1987 and discusses his experience with building and buying property.

One person responded on Quora by saying, “The answer is most likely no.” It focuses on how to build and acquire real estate and earn profits from it. War is not one of the topics covered in the book. The writer noted that some of Trump’s deals in the past could have been financed with money from Russia. It’s doubtful that ways of making money could ever solve such a conflict. Using a cookbook to repair a car is about as useful as trying to solve a war with business ideas.

The reply added that Putin hasn’t made any real effort to find peace. At one point he agreed to meet the Ukrainian president in Turkey but later canceled. Russia sent low-level representatives who repeated the same demands. Ukraine sent top officials to show they were serious.

In the meeting the Ukrainian team used only Ukrainian with translators. This was important since speaking Ukrainian is banned in Russian-held areas.

It’s unlikely The Art of the Deal will help. The answer joked maybe Putin would be surprised if Trump spoke Ukrainian.
