The Rise of Pope Leo XIV: America's Historic Step into the Papacy
Suppose Pope Leo XIV was elected as the next Pope in the United States? That would be big news. Others may imply that it reflects the U.S. is no longer a leading power. Shall we discuss what that might mean?
To start keep in mind it is just a “what if” concept. Today Pope Francis is the true Pope.
Once a new Pope needs to be elected cardinals from all over the world travel to Vatican City. They gather in a private group called conclave. There they pray and vote. When a decision is taken white smoke comes out of a chimney. That’s how people will find out a new Pope has been chosen.
Now picture that new Pope coming from America. Perhaps some people will believe the church will not hire from a great country such as the U.S. if such country is weakened. They may believe the Church is attempting to avoid politics.
But others may argue there are a lot of Catholics in the U.S. Perhaps a popemanc could reveal to the nation how important it is in the Church. Or perhaps he is just the best option.
If it ever did occur people all over the world would be gossiping about it.
