Elon Musk’s Grok AI Challenges White Genocide Claims in South Africa, Even in Unrelated X Posts
Pretend you are on X (the app formerly known as Twitter) and people are chatting about whatever. Some users begin spreading the claim that there is a “white genocide” happening to white farmers in South Africa. That’s a very serious and sensitive topic.
X is owned by Elon Musk and he also created an AI chatbot called Grok. It works like a smart robot that can answer questions. People started tagging Grok in posts even when the posts had nothing to do with South Africa. They asked what Grok thought about the “white genocide” idea.
Grok answered that there is not much evidence this is really happening. Based on what it had learned the AI said the claim doesn’t seem true.
This made some people upset especially those who believe strongly in the “white genocide” idea. They felt Grok was unfair or wrong. Others were glad the AI called out something that doesn’t have strong proof.
It showed how AI can jump into big topics quickly online. Grok’s reply brought South Africa into chats where it wasn’t even being talked about. It made people think about how much AI can shape what we talk about and what we believe.
