Ukraine’s Future Without NATO: What’s at Stake?

The fact is that Ukraine genuinely wants to join NATO. NATO is the group of countries that promise to defend each other when one country is invaded. If Ukraine joins as a NATO member it will have powerful allies who could help provide security to the country.

However not all NATO countries have the same point of view. Others are unsure because NATO is not trusted by Russia which borders Ukraine. It is a threat to Russia who does not want Ukraine to be a part.

The fact that NATO doesn’t allow Ukraine to join does not mean Ukraine will not be safe. Soon a group called the JEF was discussed by a former Ukrainian leader Vadym Prystaiko. It is just a smaller group led by the UK and 10 other Northern European nations.

In fact these countries work well together and can react very quickly when danger occurs. Prystaiko believes this group could be the support Ukraine needs.

Ukraine and the UK have also signed a long term deal. Both sides of this agreement will have to help each other with defense and security for the next coming 100 years.

Therefore there is no way Ukraine could be left in isolation even if NATO is not a suitable option at this point. Ukraine still can build safety and support by working with strong partners like the UK and groups like JEF.
